Fathima Provision Store

Our little shop is right near the bus stand in Valanchery. It’s a busy spot because of all the people coming and going from the buses all day long. Fathima Provision Store has been sitting here for years, and we’ve seen all sorts of people walk through the door. We stock the usual stuff like rice, pulses, sugar, and those little things people forget they need until they see them on the shelf. The space is a bit tight, especially when a lot of customers come in at once after a bus arrives. We don’t have fancy barcodes or automated checkout counters. We just know where everything is and we write down the bills by hand most of the time. It gets a bit dusty with the road right there, so we spend a lot of time cleaning the glass jars and the counter. Sometimes we sit outside on the stool when it's quiet, just watching the traffic go by. We know most of the regulars by name and what they usually buy. If someone is short a few rupees, we usually tell them to just bring it next time. It’s a simple way of doing business, but it works for us and our neighbors. We stay open pretty late to catch the last commuters heading home. It's just a regular local store trying to keep the shelves full for the town.
