Owlpool Bed Industries

Making beds is what we do all day over here in Manjeri. We are located near Koonam Kulam Post. It’s a dusty place sometimes because of all the materials we move around. We have a few machines running and they make a lot of noise. You get used to it after a while. Most of the guys here have been working with us for years. We aren't a huge corporation with a glass building. We work in a shed basically. We spend a lot of time checking the frames and the stuffing. If a bed isn't right, it doesn't leave the floor. We live nearby so the commute isn't too bad. Sometimes we stay late when there is a big order to finish for a local house or a small hotel. We don’t do much advertising. People mostly hear about Owlpool Bed Industries from their neighbors or relatives who bought a mattress from us before. It’s a simple life. We drink tea twice a day together and talk about the news. Then we go back to the work. We handle the deliveries ourselves most of the time. Loading the truck is the hardest part of the day, especially when it’s hot outside. Manjeri gets quite warm in the afternoons. We just keep going until the work is done. It’s not glamorous but it pays the bills and keeps us busy. We don't even have a proper office, just a desk in the corner of the workshop where we keep our receipts and some old catalogs.
