Aduki Spice World

Aduki Spice World is located at 87 Ponnani Road in Valakkad. It’s a busy stretch of road, so there is always something happening outside our door. We deal with spices of all kinds. When you walk in, the first thing you notice is the smell—it hits you right away. Some days it’s turmeric, other days it’s heavy on the pepper. We’ve been at this location for some time now. We aren't a big chain or anything like that. It’s just a local business where we know our regulars. We spend our time checking the sacks that come in from the farms. Quality changes depending on the rain and the season, so we have to be careful. We don't have a website with bells and whistles or a big social media presence. We just open the shop, put out the stock, and talk to whoever comes in. Sometimes we sit and have tea with the suppliers while we talk about the harvest. It’s a very manual process. We weigh things out, pack them up, and keep the books by hand mostly. It’s how we’ve always done it. We’re just trying to provide what people need for their kitchens without making it complicated. It is hard work but it is honest and it keeps us busy through the seasons.
