Abdul Hardwares

Our shop, Abdul Hardwares, sits on the 2 C, Irimbiliyam To Valanchery Road. Valanchery is where we spend most of our time, and being on this road means we get people coming from both directions. It’s a handy location for anyone working on their house or a small building project nearby. The shop isn't very large, so we have to stack things pretty high up on the shelves. Sometimes you need a ladder just to reach a specific tin of grease or a particular hammer. We don't have a big warehouse, just the space we have here. It can get a little crowded when three or four people are inside at once, especially if they are carrying long pieces of wood or metal. We don't have any fancy computer systems for our stock, just our notebooks and our memories. It works well enough for us. The rain sometimes leaks a little near the back door when it pours really hard, so we have to move the cardboard boxes out of the way. It’s just one of those things you deal with when you own a small business. Most of our customers are just regular folks from around here who we've known for a long time. We try to keep the basics in stock so nobody leaves empty-handed. It isn't glamorous work, but it keeps us busy and we like the routine of it all.
