I’ve been running the photography place in Katra Bazar for quite some time now. We are right in front of Gurunanak School, so the area gets really lively when the kids are coming or going. It’s a good spot because everyone knows where the school is. I spend most of my time either behind the camera or sitting at the computer editing photos. It can be a bit tedious sometimes, but that’s just how the job goes when you want things to look right. People come in for all sorts of reasons, like needing a simple photo for an ID or wanting something more personal for a family event. The shop is full of cameras and lights and backdrops that I’ve collected over the years. It’s not the biggest studio, but I make it work for whatever comes through the door. Sometimes the bazaar gets really noisy and crowded, which can make it hard to get people to relax for a portrait, but we manage by closing the door and turning on a fan. I don’t have a big staff, it’s mostly just me taking care of the customers and making sure the prints come out okay. I like being in this part of town because it feels real and there’s always something happening outside the window. It’s a simple business where I just try to capture things as they are. I have some old photo albums on a table for people to look at while they wait. The floor is a bit worn, but it works.
