Ansh Stone House

You can find us in Biswa Nagar, over in Bazid Nagar near Sitapur. We are situated quite close to the Mahmudabad Road, which means there is always a lot of dust from the passing traffic. Our yard is filled with different kinds of stone. Some are stacked high and others are just lying in piles on the ground. We spend our days outside mostly, so we see all kinds of weather. In the winter, it gets really cold here and our hands get stiff from handling the stone. In the summer, the sun beats down on the rocks and they get too hot to touch comfortably. We have a small shed where we keep the tools and take our breaks. There is always a tea kettle going on a small stove in the corner. Local builders come by to pick up what they need for the houses they are putting up in the area. We have been doing this for a while, and everyone around here knows where we are. It is not a clean job. Our clothes are always stained with red dirt or white stone dust. We don't bother much with making things look pretty. The stone is what it is. We just make sure it gets loaded onto the trolleys correctly. It is a quiet life, just moving one rock at a time and making sure the counts are right at the end of the day.
