Madan Gopal Hardware

Down in Garh Kamalpur in the Purba Medinipur district, we have our hardware shop. It is a local place where we keep all the things people might need for their homes or farms. We have a lot of hand tools, bags of cement, and boxes of nails and screws. The shelves are a bit tall and sometimes we have to use a shaky ladder to get things down from the top. Madan Gopal Hardware is not a massive store, but we try to keep a bit of everything so people do not have to travel far. The floor is concrete and usually has some dust on it from the building materials. On market days, it gets pretty busy with people coming in from the surrounding villages. They usually want something specific like a new shovel or some plumbing fixtures. We spend time chatting with the customers about their projects or just about the weather. It is a slow-paced life compared to the big cities, and we like it that way. In the evenings, we sit outside the shop for a bit before closing up. We spend a lot of time counting the stock and making sure we order more of the things that sell out fast. It is just a regular hardware store run by regular people who know a thing or two about tools. We do not have any big signs or bright lights, just the shop and the stuff we sell to the neighbors.
