Sun Psyllium Industries

Sun Psyllium Industries is based at 71, Khadia Market Yard. Being in the market yard means it is always loud and there’s always something happening. There are trucks backing in and people shouting to get things moved. Our space is basically a big warehouse area where we deal with the psyllium. It’s a very fine, dusty material, so we all end up looking like we’ve been dipped in flour by the end of the shift. We have to be careful with how it’s stored because of the moisture. The market yard is a dusty place anyway, but our unit adds to it. We don't have fancy office chairs or air conditioning. It’s mostly just space for the bags and the equipment we use to process the husks. We spend a lot of time sweeping, though it feels like you never quite get all the dust. The sun hits the metal roof in the afternoon and it gets pretty warm inside. We usually have a fan going, but it just moves the warm air around. People come in and out all day, mostly traders and drivers. We keep a record of everything in a big ledger on the main desk. It’s not a high-tech setup, just a practical one that works for the kind of stuff we handle. We’ve been at number 71 for a long time, and everyone in the yard knows us.
