Jyoti Hospital

We are the eye hospital located here in Visnagar. People mostly know us because they see the sign when they are driving through town. It’s a plain building, nothing too special to look at, but we do a lot of work inside. We mostly see people who are having trouble with their vision or need a check-up. The waiting area can get pretty full on Monday mornings. We have a few doctors and nurses who have been here for years. Visnagar is the kind of place where news travels by word of mouth, so we don't really do much advertising. We just focus on the eyes. There are a lot of machines in the back for testing, and they beep quite a bit. It can be a little overwhelming for some of the older patients, so we try to explain things clearly. The floors are white and we try to keep them clean, though people bring in a lot of dust from the street. We’ve got a small area where you can pick out glasses if you need them. It’s a steady pace here. We see everyone from little kids to great-grandparents. We aren't trying to be the biggest hospital around, just a reliable place for the people in Visnagar to go when their eyes aren't working quite right. We keep the doors open through the week and do what needs doing. It’s a good way to spend the day helping the locals.
