Engineer

My name is Ugamani Pati and I am based in Manund, over in Patan. Living here in Gujarat, you get used to a certain pace of life. I work as an engineer, mainly handling local projects and technical needs that come up in this area. It’s a simple setup I have here at my address. I don’t have a big staff or a shiny lobby. It is mostly just me and my equipment. I spent a lot of time learning the trade, and now I apply it to whatever needs fixing or building in the community. Patan is a place with a lot of history, and I like being part of the modern side of things through my engineering work. Some days I'm traveling to nearby villages, and other days I'm just at home working through calculations. It’s not the kind of job where you wear a suit every day. I’m usually in my work clothes, ready to look at a site or a piece of machinery. The weather can be dry and hot, but you just get on with it. I don't really have a lot to say about myself other than I do my job and try to be helpful. My neighbors know where I am if they need some technical advice. It is a quiet life, but the work is steady and it keeps me grounded in the local soil. I try to stay busy every day and keep my tools in good shape for whatever comes next.
