We are situated out in Rantej, which is a small village near the Bechraji area in Mehsana district. Life out here moves a lot slower than it does in the big cities like Ahmedabad or Rajkot. Most of the people living around here are either farmers or they work in the new industrial plants that are starting to pop up in this part of Gujarat. Our place is a bit out of the way, so you really have to follow the local landmarks to find the entrance. The building is plain and functional because we are too busy working to worry about how the place looks to outsiders. We spend our days managing the factory side of things for the Samkhiyali operations. There is always a bit of dust in the air and the sound of machinery in the distance. We do not have any fancy restaurants or cafes nearby, so everyone brings their own tiffin from home and we all eat together in the small break area. Sometimes we have to drive all the way into Bechraji town if we need specific supplies or tools. It is a lot of back-and-forth travel on the local roads. The days can feel very long, especially when there are delays with the materials coming in. But that is just how it is when you are working in a rural industrial zone. We just keep our heads down and try to finish the tasks for the day so we can head home.
