Kurumurthy Swamy Rice Mill

You can find us out in Gudur village at Sy. No 108. That’s in the Cc Kunta mandal area. Kurumurthy Swamy Rice Mill is a place where we process grain for the local farmers. The district is full of rice fields, so there is always work to do. When harvest time comes, the whole place gets very loud and dusty. Farmers bring their paddy in on tractors and we spend all day and night milling it. It’s hard, physical work and we get covered in husk dust. We don’t have a big corporate structure or fancy offices here. It’s just a big shed with machinery that’s been running for a long time. Sometimes the machines break down and we have to fix them ourselves. That’s just how life in a mill goes. We know the farmers from the surrounding villages quite well. They trust us with their crops. We try to be fair and get the rice ready as fast as we can. It’s a basic business but it’s what the community needs. The smell of fresh rice is always in the air here. We’ve been at this for many years now. It’s not an easy job, but it’s our living. If you come by the village, you’ll hear the hum of the mill from the road. We just keep working through the season until the last bag is done. It is our way of life out here.
