K G N Flour Mill

This flour mill is located at house number 3-37 in Doudarpally Village. We are right in the Gadwal Mandal area, and most of our days are spent right here in the village. The mill is a small setup, just enough to handle what the local people bring in from their fields. You can hear the machines running from a good distance away, a sound that has become very familiar to everyone living nearby. We spend a lot of time lifting heavy sacks and making sure the grain is fed into the hopper correctly. The air inside the mill is always thick with the smell of ground wheat and jawar. It gets quite dusty, so we are constantly sweeping the floors and wiping down the machinery after we shut down for the day. Being in Jogulamba Gadwal District, we get a lot of farmers who stop by after their harvest. Sometimes the machines need a bit of a tune-up, so we spend the quiet hours with a wrench in hand, making sure everything is aligned. It isn't a glamorous job, and the heat from the motors can make the room very stuffy, but it is a necessary part of life here. We just stay open until the last person has their flour ready to take home. Most people just walk over or bring their grain on a cycle. It's just a simple, local operation where we know almost everyone who walks through the door by name.
