Gandam Chennamma

Over in the village of Duppatghat, you’ll find the place of Gandam Chennamma at house number 2-93. This is in the Maddur area, and it’s a very quiet part of the district compared to the big cities. Life moves a bit slower here. We don’t have a big store with bright lights. It’s more of a local operation that we run right from our premises. Most of the people who come to us are neighbors or farmers from the nearby fields. We know everyone’s name and their families too. The building is a simple one, painted a light color that has faded a bit over the years. We sit out front when the weather is nice, waiting for customers or just watching the cattle pass by. There isn't much paperwork involved, mostly just word of mouth and simple hand-written notes. We don't use computers much, as we find the old ways work just fine for what we do. Our focus is just on being there for the community when they need something. It’s a humble setup, and we don't try to act like we are bigger than we are. Sometimes it gets a bit lonely when there aren't many visitors, but we enjoy the peace of Duppatghat. We’ve lived here our whole lives, and the business is just an extension of our daily routine. It’s honest work in a small village.
