Chiluka Venkatamma

Living here in Dokur Village, things move at a different pace than the big cities people talk about. My place is at 4-93, right in the heart of the village under Devarakadra Mandal. It’s a quiet area mostly, unless it’s market day or there’s a festival going on at the temple. I spend most of my time taking care of things around the house and managing whatever work comes my way. The dust from the road settles on the porch every afternoon, so there is always sweeping to be done. Neighbors walk past and we exchange a few words about the rain or the lack of it. It’s a small community where everyone knows who lives where. My family has been in this district for a long time, and this house has seen many years of us coming and going. Sometimes the power goes out in the evenings, so we just sit outside where it’s cooler. I don’t have any fancy signs or a big office. It’s just me working from here, keeping track of the daily chores and making sure everything is in order. The house is old but sturdy enough. I don’t really think much about business in the way people in Hyderabad might. It’s more about getting through the day’s tasks and making sure there is enough for tomorrow. You learn to be practical when you live in a place like this, far from the main highway. It keeps me busy enough.
