Mariyamma Madapogu

My name is Mariyamma Madapogu and I live and do my work at house number 1-40 in Venisampur village. This is located within the Ieeja Mandal area. It is a small, quiet village where everyone basically knows everyone else's business. I do not run a big company with an office building or a lobby. Most of my days are spent doing the regular household chores and whatever other work happens to come my way from the neighbors. Since the sun hits the front of the house very early in the morning, I usually move my work to the back porch where it stays a lot cooler. I have a small wooden table where I keep all my things organized as best as I can. Except for the occasional tractor passing by or a group of school kids running home, the dirt road outside is mostly quiet. I have lived here in Venisampur for a very long time now, and every crack in the walls of this house is familiar to me. Sometimes the women from next door come over to sit for a while under the shade of the big tree out front. We talk about the local crops or the weather. It is not a fast-paced life at all. I do my work steadily and just try to keep things in good order. The dust from the nearby fields always settles on everything, so I am constantly wiping down the table with a rag.
