Sri Pon Ganesh Granites

Sri Pon Ganesh Granites is right at No 1 on 1st Street. It is a pretty straightforward place. We have been working with stone here for quite a while. The street is usually quiet until a big truck arrives to pick up a load of granite. We spend our mornings checking the slabs for any marks or scratches. The water runs over the stone to show the true color, so the ground is almost always wet. We wear heavy rubber boots because of that. It is manual work, through and through. We do not have a big marketing team or anything like that. It is just a few of us handling the stone and talking to the people who walk in. 1st Street is where we started and we have stayed put. The granite slabs are stacked up high against the back wall. It takes a lot of muscle to move them around without making a mess. We have some simple tools for the cutting and the polishing. The noise can be a bit much if you are not used to it. We just put our heads down and get the job done. Every piece of granite is different, so we have to pay attention to what we are doing. It is not fancy, but it is honest work. We spend the whole day on our feet making sure things are moved correctly.
