Chamundeshwari Brick Works

This is about Chamundeshwari Brick Works. We are situated in Marur, which falls under the Narachandra post in Kudur Ohobli. It's a bit of a trek out here in Magadi Taluka, Ramnagar district, but we like the space we have. Making bricks in this part of the country means dealing with the landscape and the local soil. We spend a lot of time out in the fields. The work is physical and depends a lot on the seasons. During the monsoon, we mostly have to wait it out since the clay won't dry properly. It’s a cycle we’ve gotten used to over the years. We supply bricks to many of the nearby villages and some of the newer construction happening towards the town. It is a family-run kind of feel here. My workers have been with me for a long time and they know the rhythm of the kiln. We don't use any high-tech machinery, just the old ways that have worked for us. You’ll find us busy most mornings before it gets too hot. People come by on their tractors to pick up loads. It can get dusty and messy, especially when we are loading up, but that is the life of a brick maker. We don't have a fancy website or anything. If someone needs bricks, they usually just hear about us from a neighbor and show up at the site in Marur. We are usually here until the sun goes down.
