Vijay Sakthi Diesels

Vijay Sakthi Diesels is over at No. 98 West Perumal Maistry Street, right near Chennai Silks. It is a very busy part of the city, and the street is almost always packed with people and traffic. We work on diesel engines and all the various parts that go along with them. Our shop has that distinct smell of oil and fuel, which you get used to after about five minutes. We spend most of our time covered in grease, taking engines apart or trying to find why one won’t start. It is loud and can be pretty heavy work, but we’ve been doing it for a long time. We have shelves full of parts in the back, and we usually know exactly where to find what we need even if it looks a bit messy to an outsider. We don't have a fancy lobby or anywhere for people to sit. If you come by, you’ll probably just stand in the doorway and talk to us while we work. We don't use any complicated talk or try to sell you things you don't really need. We just look at the engine and tell you if it can be fixed or if you need to find a replacement. Sometimes the parts take a few days to arrive, and we just have to wait. We’ve been at this spot for years and we just keep doing what we know how to do, one engine at a time.
