S A Knitwear Pvt. Ltd. is based out of the Mahia Sidco Ind Estate in Varichiyur, near Madurai. Our address is unit number 76. It’s a relatively quiet area compared to the city center, which we actually prefer for our daily work. The building is a standard industrial shed where we keep all our knitting equipment. We spend our days watching the yarn turn into fabric and making sure the tension is right. There are about a dozen of us here most days. We don't have a big HR department or a fancy boardroom with leather chairs. Usually, we just sit around the main table to talk about what needs to be done for the next shipment. The weather in Madurai gets pretty hot during the summer, so we have the big shutters open to let the air in. We’ve been here for several years now. Most of our work is just about keeping the machines maintained and the quality decent enough for our customers. We don’t put on airs or try to act like a big multinational company. We’re just a local company in Tamil Nadu doing our bit. If there’s a problem with a machine, we usually try to fix it ourselves. It’s a very hands-on type of business. People in the estate know us as the knitwear folks. We just keep our heads down and work through the orders. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from morning till evening.
