Udhayam Traders

You can find Udhayam Traders tucked away at No 16 A in Pvs Lane. It’s right off East Masi Street in Madurai 625001. Being near Harish Bakery is a bit of a problem because the smell of fresh bread always makes me hungry before lunchtime. Our lane is quite narrow, so when a big delivery comes, everything else has to stop for a minute. The shop itself is just a simple room with a high ceiling. We have some old wooden counters that have become smooth over the years from people leaning on them. Madurai is always warm, and the stone floors here help a little bit with the temperature. We don't have a big marketing department or anything like that. It’s just us answering the phone and dealing with the people who walk through the door. Some of our customers have been coming here since they were kids with their parents. We have a small back room where we keep most of the stock, and it’s always a bit of a mess in there no matter how often we clean it. Life on East Masi Street is fast, but inside the shop, things feel a bit slower. We take our time to get things right. It’s a basic way of doing business, but it has worked for a long time. My brother and I run the place and we mostly just talk about the news when it's quiet.
