Tamilnadu Auto Enterprises is located at Plot No. 34 on North Veli Street. If you’ve ever been down this street, you know how hectic it can be with all the shops and vehicles. Our place is basically a garage and shop space that’s seen a lot of use. We have spare parts stacked up on shelves that reach all the way to the ceiling. There’s always someone working on a motor or sorting through bins of bolts. It’s not a quiet place. There is usually a radio playing local music and the sound of wrenches hitting the floor. We don't have a shiny lobby. You just walk in off the street and find one of us. The floor is stained with old oil and the walls are covered with calendars from years ago. We’ve been here long enough that we know the regular people who walk by every morning. It’s a lot of work, and the days can be long, especially when it’s humid. We don’t bother with fancy uniforms or anything like that. We just wear what’s comfortable for getting dirty. North Veli Street is the heart of the area for us. We open the shutters early and don't close them until late in the evening. It’s just how we run things here. Sometimes we have to move the bikes out of the way just to get a car into the work area. It’s cramped and the fans don’t do much when the heat really kicks in, but we’ve got used to it.
