Raviraj Pet is located at 239 South Marret Street, right near the Periyar Bus Stand. If you’ve ever waited for a bus around here, you probably know the area. It’s always loud with the sound of engines and people shouting for the next ride. We’ve got bags of feed and supplies stacked up inside, and sometimes the smell of birdseed or dog food is the first thing you notice when you walk in. The shop isn't huge, so we have to be careful where we put everything so people don't trip over the crates. Being so close to the bus stand means we get all sorts of people walking by. Some just stop in to look at the birds or ask a quick question while they’re on their way somewhere else. The floors get dirty pretty fast with all the foot traffic from the street, so one of us is usually sweeping at least three times a day. We keep the water bowls full and try to make sure everything stays cool during the hot afternoons when the sun hits the front of the building. It’s a busy spot to spend the day, and there’s always something to move or a bag that needs to be hauled to someone’s vehicle parked nearby. We just stay busy with the animals and the people coming through the door from morning until we close up for the night.
