Solomon Export Import Corporation is based at No. 184B on Thathaneri Main Road in Madurai. If you know Madurai, you know the roads can be narrow and very lively. Our building is right in the thick of it. We spend our days coordinating between suppliers and people who need goods sent overseas or brought in. It involves a lot of phone calls and checking shipping schedules. The office is full of files and old maps. We are not a big corporation with hundreds of employees; we are just a handful of people who understand how the local markets work. There is usually a pot of coffee going and the sound of the traffic outside is constant. Thathaneri is a busy spot, so there is always someone coming in with a delivery note or asking about a container. We do not have a polished website or a fancy reception area. You just walk in and someone will be there at a desk covered in papers. We handle the export and import side of things without much fuss. Sometimes there are delays at the ports, which makes for a stressful afternoon, but mostly we just follow the process. It is a lot of waiting for emails and then rushing to get the logistics sorted out. We like being in Madurai because everything is close by and we have known the neighbors for years. It is just a normal day-to-day operation where we try to keep the goods moving.
