You can find us at No.1475-A in Chettiapatti Colony, which is part of Thottappanayakkanur in the Usilampatty Taluk near Madurai. We are Solaimathi Chit Fund. The office is care of Ravikumar, and it is a very local setup. We are right in the heart of the colony. It is a place where everyone knows everyone else. Our office isn't much to look at from the outside, just a plain building in the middle of the neighborhood. Inside, we have some tables and benches for people to sit. It is often quite noisy with the kids playing outside or people moving about the colony. We do not mind it though. We handle chits for the folks around here who need a way to save or get a bit of money for their needs. It is very much a grassroots thing. We use thick notebooks to keep track of the names and the payments. Sometimes the power goes out, so we just work by the light from the door. It is a practical way of doing business without any of the big city fuss. We spend our days talking to people from the village and making sure the math adds up at the end of the month. Madurai is a big place, but here in Usilampatty, things move a bit slower. We are just a small part of this community, doing our bit with the chits.
