Silver Chemicals

We’ve been here at Silver Chemicals on the Main Road in Valayankulam for quite a bit of time now. The building is at 1/255 and honestly, it’s not the easiest place to keep clean because of all the dust coming off the road. Every day we open up the shutters and start sorting through the chemical drums and containers that come in. It’s mostly just hard work and getting things organized for the people who need them. There isn’t a lot of space inside, so things are stacked pretty high against the back walls. You can hear the traffic going by all day long, which gets a bit loud when the trucks pass. We try to keep the inventory straight, but sometimes the paperwork gets piled up on the old wooden desk in the corner. My tea usually gets cold before I finish it because there’s always a delivery driver knocking at the door or someone asking about a specific mixture. The neighbors around here are mostly okay, and we all kind of look out for each other on this stretch of the road. It’s just a regular local business doing what it does without any big fuss. Sometimes the electricity goes out in the afternoon heat, and we just sit outside on the bench until it comes back on. That’s just how things go around Valayankulam. We’ve grown used to the routine of it all after these years of working the same patch of ground.
