Sarvodaya Sangh Khadi Vastralaya

Our shop, Sarvodaya Sangh Khadi Vastralaya, is located at No 626 on Melur Main Road. We are quite easy to find since we are right near the Chekkadi Kakkan Statue in Melur. This place has been around for a while, and we focus mainly on khadi clothes and other hand-woven items. It’s not one of those modern malls with bright lights and music. It’s a quiet store with stacks of cotton shirts, towels, and dhotis. Most people come to us because they like the feel of real khadi. The road outside is usually busy with buses and lorries going towards Madurai, so it gets a little dusty sometimes. We spend a lot of time just keeping the fabrics clean and folded. We are just a small team here, and we know our regulars well. People from the nearby villages often stop by when they come to town. We don’t really do any advertising or big sales. We just open up, sit on our chairs, and wait for customers to walk in. Sometimes we have long chats with them about things happening in Melur. It’s a slow kind of business compared to the shops in the city. When it gets very hot in the afternoon, we usually slow down a bit. We don't have a big corporate setup, just a simple way of selling traditional clothes to people who appreciate them. It’s just a honest, everyday business for us.
