Sagar Brush

Our workshop is located at 81/13, Madurai Road in Thirumangalam. Sagar Brush is just a regular building on a very busy stretch of road. We make brushes here, so there are always bits of wood shavings and bristles on the floor. It’s impossible to keep the place perfectly clean, but we try our best. The building has high ceilings and just one main floor. We use some old machines that make quite a bit of noise when they are running. You have to speak up to be heard over the hum. We have a small corner with a desk where we handle the paperwork and take calls from customers. Most of our buyers are locals, but sometimes we send orders further away. We load the trucks ourselves every morning. It can be tiring work, but it's just part of the job. There isn't a boss who stays tucked away in an office; we all work together on the floor. The sun shines right into the front in the late afternoon, so it gets very bright and hot. We hung up some old cloth to act as curtains. We have a water cooler in the corner that everyone shares. It’s not a glamorous life, but it’s what we do. We’ve been at this for a long time and we know our craft well. We just keep making brushes for whoever needs them.
