Rajan Clinic

Madurai is a hot city, and South Masi Street is one of those places that feels even hotter because it is so busy. Our clinic is at No 229. It’s a narrow street, typical for this part of Madurai, and there are shops everywhere. Rajan Clinic has been sitting here for quite some time. We aren't a big fancy medical center. We are just a few rooms on a busy street. The front door stays busy with people coming in and out. Inside, the ceiling fans are always spinning as fast as they can to keep the heat away. We have our files stacked up and the medicine bottles in their places. Life on South Masi Street means you see everything—cows, bikes, carts, and lots of people. We know the shopkeepers nearby. Sometimes we go out to get a cold drink when the afternoon gets too quiet. But it’s rarely quiet for long. We don't have any big slogans or shiny brochures. We just have a sign outside and a couple of chairs for people to sit while they wait. People know to come to 229 when they aren't feeling well. We take things as they come. It’s a bit dusty, a bit noisy, and very busy, but that is just Madurai for you. We’ve got our routine down and we stick to it every day. The clinic might be small, but it’s been here through a lot of years.
