Jeyalakshmi Book Shop

Jeyalakshmi Book Shop is situated at Shop No. 6 in the Pudumandapam area, specifically on East Chitrai Street. This is a very old and traditional part of the city. Our shop is small but it is packed with books from the floor almost to the ceiling. We have been here for a long time and have seen the crowds change over the years. We sell school books, religious texts, and sometimes just general reading material that people ask for. It is often a bit cramped inside because we try to fit in as many titles as possible. When someone comes looking for a specific book, we usually know exactly which pile it is buried under. The Pudumandapam market has a lot of history and we feel like a small part of that. There is no air conditioning or fancy lighting here. We just have a few tubelights and the breeze that comes through the open front. Customers are usually locals or students looking for something specific for their classes. We spend a lot of time dusting the covers and reorganizing the shelves after a busy day.
