The Nature Shop

Being right on the bypass road means there is a lot of traffic zooming past all the time. But inside the shop, we try to keep things a bit more relaxed. The Nature Shop is at 194/76 Chandragandhi Nagar. We have a lot of plants and stuff for gardens. It’s always a bit cooler inside because of the greenery. We spend a lot of time watering and checking the soil. Sometimes the bugs get in and we have to deal with that. It’s not always pretty. My fingernails are almost always dirty from digging around in pots. We get people stopping by who are just driving through and want something for their porch. We also have regular locals who come for seeds or advice on why their hibiscus isn't blooming. We don't have fancy displays. Just pots lined up on the ground and some shelves we built ourselves. The sun hits the front of the shop pretty hard in the morning. It’s a lot of physical work, moving bags of compost and heavy ceramic pots. We just like being around the plants. It’s a simple way to spend the day. The bypass road noise is just background music to us now. We have a small cat that hangs out in the shade near the back. Life is slow here despite the fast cars outside. We just do what we do and try to keep things alive.
