If you head down to 5 Goodshed Street, you’ll find our shop. It’s a local place where we mostly deal with car repairs and general maintenance. It’s not a big showroom with shiny floors. Instead, we have oil stains on the concrete and tools hanging all over the walls. Most of the time, there are three or four cars squeezed into the space, and someone is always underneath one with a flashlight. We’ve been working on engines and brakes in this neighborhood for years. The street outside can get a bit crowded, especially when the trains are moving nearby at the goods shed. It’s a lot of hard work, and our hands are usually dirty by nine in the morning. We don’t have a fancy receptionist or a big waiting room with a TV. People just drop their cars off and we give them a call when the job is done. Sometimes we find ourselves searching for a specific bolt for an hour, but that’s just part of the trade. We have a few old chairs if someone wants to sit and wait, but most folks just go about their day. It’s a straightforward business. We fix what’s broken and try to keep things running for the people who live and work around here. It’s a bit noisy and cramped, but it’s our space and we know where everything is.
