Khalifa Food Industries

We’ve been over here on Parampupatti Road for a good while now. It’s a bit of a drive out to Perungudi but most people know the way by now. Khalifa Food Industries isn't some giant factory you'd see in a movie. It’s mostly just us working with what we’ve got at 2/733. The mornings start pretty early because that’s when the heat is manageable and we can get things moving. There’s always a bit of dust in the air and the smell of whatever we’re processing that day. Sometimes it’s grain, sometimes it’s other stuff. It gets loud when the machines are all running at once. My desk is tucked in the corner where I try to keep the paperwork straight, though it usually ends up in piles. We don’t have fancy uniforms or a lobby with a receptionist. Most people just walk in through the main door and ask for whoever they’re looking for. The neighbors are mostly other small outfits or people living nearby, so we see the same faces every day. When the power goes out, which happens, we all just take a break and sit outside for a bit. It’s not a complicated setup. We just come in, do the work that needs doing, and head home when the sun goes down. Most of the guys have been here for years and we just know how the machines sound when they’re working right. It’s just how things go at this end of town for us.
