Pengal Magilchi Foundation

Our office is at 16, J N Nagar, 3rd Street, just off Old Natham Street in Madurai. Being in Madurai, you can imagine how hot it gets in the middle of the day. Pengal Magilchi Foundation operates from this small building in a residential pocket. The street is narrow, so if two cars try to pass each other, everything stops for a minute. We have been here for some time now and most of the neighbors know who we are. It is a simple place with whitewashed walls and a few ceiling fans that rattle a bit when they are on high. We spend our time managing the foundation's work, which usually involves a lot of phone calls and ledger entries. There is a small temple nearby, and sometimes we can hear the bells ringing in the evening. It is a very local vibe, far away from the big glass buildings you see in the city. The zip code is 625014 if you need it. We don't really have a reception desk or a waiting room, people just walk in and we find them a place to sit. It is a bit informal, but that is how we like to run things. Sometimes we bring in food from home and eat together in the small kitchen area. It is just a group of people doing their best in a regular Madurai neighborhood.
