Nirmala Children Hospital

We are right in the middle of the action on South Masi Street in Madurai. Being in the Main Market area means it’s always loud outside with the vehicles and people shopping. It can be a bit chaotic trying to get to the hospital because of the traffic, but once you’re inside, we try to keep things as calm as possible for the kids. It’s a children’s hospital, so you can imagine there is a lot of crying and running around most of the time. We see a lot of babies and young children from all over the South Masi area and the nearby parts of Madurai. The building is an older one, typical for this part of the city, and we’ve had to make do with the space we have. We handle everything from basic vaccinations to when a child gets a bad stomach bug or a high fever. Parents are usually pretty stressed when they come in, so we just try to tell them what’s going on without using too many big words. It’s a practical place. We don’t have fancy playrooms, just some basic stuff to keep the little ones occupied while they wait. The staff knows how to handle a crying toddler, which helps. It’s a tough job sometimes, especially when it’s hot outside and the clinic is full, but we’ve been doing this for a long time now.
