M/S.J Paper Cups

Our small factory, M/S.J Paper Cups, is situated at D-25 in the Sldo Indl Estate in Kappalur. If you’ve ever been to the estate, you know it’s a lot of grey buildings and lorries. Inside our unit, it’s mostly the sound of the cup-forming machines. They have this steady thumping sound that you stop hearing after about ten minutes. There are stacks of paper rolls waiting to be used and boxes of finished cups ready to go. It’s a very practical environment. We don’t have air conditioning, so we keep the big shutters open to let the air in. The smell of the paper and the slight scent of the wax is always in the air. We wear simple clothes that we don’t mind getting a bit of grease on. Our team is small, mostly people from around the neighborhood. We share a tea break in the afternoon, sitting on some of the crates. It’s not fancy, but it gets the job done. Sometimes the machines act up and we have to spend half the day fixing a sensor or a belt. That’s just how it goes when you’re running a production line. We don’t have a website or anything like that, we just rely on the work we do. People come by to pick up their orders in their own vans. It’s a simple business, and we like it that way. No one here is trying to be anything we aren't.
