Our place is located right on the Madurai - Dindigal Highway, over in Villangudi. Most people around this area just call it the Torino Factory because of the old sign. It has been sitting on this stretch of road for a very long time, and the building definitely shows its age, but everything inside works just fine for us. The highway is always busy with local buses and long-distance trucks, so there is a constant layer of dust and a lot of traffic noise. Inside the walls, it is a different world. We have the bottling lines running for most of the daylight hours. Torino is something that people in Madurai grew up drinking, so we feel a bit of pressure to keep it going the right way. It involves a lot of standing around and watching the glass move through the big washers. We have a crew here that has been working the same jobs forever. We all know the little quirks of the old machines—which one might leak a bit of oil or which one makes a loud clunking sound in the early morning. We do not have a corporate office with air conditioning everywhere you look. It is mostly just the warehouse and the production floor. The heat in Madurai is no joke, so we drink a lot of water and try to stay in the shade during our lunch breaks. We handle everything from the mixing to the final loading of the vehicles heading out into town.
