Down at Meenakshi Mission Hospital And Research Center, things stay pretty busy. We are situated in the Lake Area along Melur Road. It’s not just a hospital where you go when you’re sick, because we also have people doing research and looking into new things. That means you might see students or people in white coats carrying clipboards around quite a bit. The building itself is quite large. It has seen a lot of history since it started. We have a lot of different wings and departments. Some days it feels like you’re walking miles just to get from one end to the other. There’s a lot of parking out front, but it fills up fast on Monday mornings. We have a lot of different machines for testing and checking things out. The staff here works in shifts, so there’s always someone around, even in the middle of the night when the streets outside are finally quiet. We take in people from all over the surrounding areas. It doesn’t matter if it’s a rainy day or a holiday, the doors are open. We spend a lot of time talking to patients and their families. It’s a lot of responsibility, but we’re used to it by now. The Lake Area is a good spot for us. It’s easy for people to find once they get onto the main road and head past all the local shops and traffic.
