Madurai Handicraft

You can find us at No 7 on Kiruthumal Nadhi Road. We’ve been in Mahalipatti for a long time. Madurai Handicraft is basically what it says on the sign. We have all sorts of handmade items piled up. It gets a bit dusty sometimes because there’s a lot of stock to move around. People come in looking for specific things, and usually, we can dig it out from the back. The road outside can be quite narrow, so parking is always a bit of a headache. We don't really have a big website or anything, just the shop here where we spend most of our time. The shelves are full of things people have made with their hands. It’s a quiet life mostly. We open up in the morning, sweep the front, and wait to see who stops by. Some days it’s just locals, other times people from further away come looking for handicrafts. We don’t do much advertising. People just find us by word of mouth or by walking past on their way to somewhere else. It’s a small space, so you have to watch your step. We try to keep things organized, but when new shipments come in, it gets crowded again. That’s just how it goes with this kind of business. We’ve been here long enough that we know most of the neighbors and the tea stall nearby.
