Karuppiah Maligai Store

Karuppiah Maligai Store is right in the heart of the Madurai Bazaar area. We are located at Kangartamp Pettai, near the Natham Main Road. The area code is 625001. Being in the bazaar means it is always loud and crowded. There is constant movement outside our door. We sell all kinds of grocery items. It’s a traditional maligai shop. My father started this place, and I took over from him. It’s been in the family for a long time. The shelves are high and packed with goods. We don't have much room to move around, but we know where everything is. You get used to the noise of Natham Main Road after a while. Most of our customers have been coming here for decades. They know me and I know them. We don't do any big promotions or anything like that. We just focus on keeping the stock fresh. It is a simple business. We open the shutters in the morning and close them late at night. Sometimes the weather makes it hard, especially during the monsoon, but we stay open. It is a lot of physical labor, moving boxes and weighing items. But it’s a good life in the middle of Madurai. We are just a small part of this big, busy market. We have everything from spices to grains tucked away in here. It’s a bit of a squeeze but it works for the people who shop with us.
