Sun Apparels is based at Bs. No. 13 in the S. I. D. C. O. Industrial Estate in Kappalur. Being in an industrial estate means we are surrounded by other workshops and factories. There is always the sound of heavy vehicles moving and the general noise of production. Our unit is basically one large room where we have all our machines and fabric. It’s a very practical setup. We don't have any plush carpets or nice paintings on the walls. It’s a place for making clothes, and that’s what we do all day. The Kappalur area gets very hot, especially during the summer months, so the workplace can be a bit uncomfortable at times. We just deal with it by starting early in the morning. We don't have any marketing staff or a mission statement. We just focus on the fabric in front of us and making sure the stitching is done correctly. It’s a lot of work that requires staying on your feet for long hours. We’ve been in this estate for quite a few years now and have a good routine. Most of our workers are from the local area, so it feels like a community effort. We aren't trying to be some massive corporation; we just want to do our job and get the orders out. Sometimes things go wrong with a machine and we have to fix it ourselves. It’s just how it is. We take things as they come and try to keep our customers satisfied.
