Concretia Rock Products Pvt Ltd is based at number 325, right near Katchakatti Road in Vadipatti. It is a dry and dusty part of the region, which actually suits the kind of work we do with rocks and concrete materials. The yard is quite big because we need the space to store all the heavy items we deal with daily. You won't find any polished floors or air-conditioned lobbies here. Instead, there is a lot of gravel underfoot and the smell of machinery in the air. We have a small office building on the site where we handle the invoices and the phone calls. The sun gets really intense in Vadipatti, so we usually have the fans going at full speed from nine in the morning until we leave. Most of the people working here are locals who know the roads well. We spend a lot of time checking the loads and making sure the trucks are ready to go out. It is hard work and your hands definitely get dirty by the end of the shift. We usually have our lunch together under the shade of the big tree near the entrance. It’s a simple operation and we don’t try to make it look like something it isn’t. We are just here near Katchakatti Road, doing our bit with the rocks and getting through the week. It’s a physical job but we are used to it.
