About Assistant Engineer Electrical Tamilnadu Electricity Board – Electrical in Madurai
I've been working as an assistant engineer here at the Tamilnadu Electricity Board office on Srinivasa Perumal Koil Street for a while now. Our spot is right in Kaajar Salai, Madurai. It’s a busy area and the phone doesn't really stop ringing, especially when there's a problem with the lines or a transformer goes out in the heat. Most days it’s just about keeping things running. We deal with a lot of paperwork and then head out to check on stuff in the field. The building is 14/7 on the street, so locals know where to find us if their bill is wrong or if they need a new connection. It gets pretty hot in Madurai, as everyone knows, and that puts a lot of pressure on the electrical grid. We do what we can to fix things quickly. It’s not a fancy job, just regular work. Sometimes we stay late because the work just piles up. The tea shop nearby is where we usually take a break. It's a bit dusty and loud with the traffic outside, but we've gotten used to it over the years. We’re just a small part of the bigger board, focusing on our specific section of the city. We try to keep the lights on and the fans spinning for everyone around here. It’s mostly about maintenance and making sure the wiring holds up during the monsoon season. There is always something to do.
