You can find us right on East Masi Street, just opposite the Villakkuthoon Police Station. Being across from the police station makes it easy to give people directions. We specialize in bags. Ashiba Bags has been at this location, No. 382 166- A, for quite a few years now. The street is always loud with traffic and people walking by. It’s one of the older parts of the city, so the buildings are close together. Inside our shop, we have bags of all sizes hanging from the walls and stacked on shelves. We make some, we source some. It’s a dusty job sometimes, especially with all the fabric and stitching involved. The sewing machines make a constant humming noise in the background. We usually have a few workers sitting in the back working on the handles or zips. It’s a family-run thing, so we all chip in. Sometimes we run out of a certain color and have to tell customers to wait a week. They usually don't mind. The floor is old tile and the lighting isn't the brightest, but it works for us. We drink a lot of coffee during the day to stay sharp. It’s a busy life on Masi Street, especially during the wedding season when everyone wants new travel bags. We just keep at it, one bag at a time, making sure everything is stitched well enough to last. It’s how we’ve always done it.
