Aravind Eye Hospital

You can find us at Number 1 in Anna Nagar. Being at the very start of the street makes it easy to explain our location to people coming from other parts of town. This branch of Aravind Eye Hospital is pretty well known in the area. We have a steady stream of patients coming in for cataracts or just regular checkups. The building has been here for a while and it shows its age in some of the corners. We have a large waiting hall that gets quite hot in the afternoon, even with the fans spinning at full speed. People sit there with their files, waiting for their names to be called out over the speaker. The nurses are always busy cleaning the equipment or helping someone walk to the next room. We have a lot of machines for testing eye pressure and things like that, and they make all sorts of beeps and whirring noises. The garden outside the entrance is a bit overgrown, but it has some nice flowers in the spring. We try to get through the list of patients by the end of the day, but sometimes we are still here late finishing up the paperwork. It’s a lot of work, but someone has to do it. Anna Nagar is a lively place to be, and we feel like a real part of the community here after all these years.
