Apex Silk

You can find us at No. 140 East Veli Street in Madurai. Apex Silk has been operating from this spot for a while now. East Veli Street is one of those places that is always full of life, with cows, motorcycles, and people all fighting for space. Our shop is right in the thick of it. Inside, it is a bit darker and cooler than the street outside, which is a relief during the summer months. We have rolls of silk stacked up against the walls, and the colors are pretty much the only bright thing in the room. The building is old, with high ceilings and those heavy wooden doors that take some effort to open in the morning. We don't spend money on fancy advertisements or shiny signs. Most people just know we are here because they have seen us on the street for years. We spend the day measuring out fabric and chatting with the other shopkeepers nearby. The traffic on East Veli Street can be a nightmare in the afternoons, so we usually try to get our deliveries moved early in the morning. It’s a simple way of doing things, but it’s the way it has always been done here. We drink a lot of coffee from the place next door and just keep the shop open until the sun sets and the street gets a bit quieter. It is just a normal day for us.
