Cheelanahalli is a good place for a business like ours. Tumkur has seen a lot of growth lately, so we stay pretty busy most of the year. We have a small crew of guys here, mostly local people who know the value of a hard day’s work. It’s tough on the back, moving these bricks one by one, but that’s the job we chose. We don’t have any big signs or flashy lights to show where we are. If you’re driving through the area, you’ll just see the red stacks piled high. That’s us. We start our day early, usually before the sun gets too high in the sky because it’s a lot cooler then. By noon, everything feels like it’s baking. We take our lunch breaks in the shade of the stacks when we can find a spot. Sometimes the delivery trucks are running late and we just sit around talking about whatever is happening in the village. It isn't a very complicated business to be honest. We make the bricks, people buy them for their houses, and we make more. We’ve been at this for a while now and the ground is hard and dry under our feet. We don't spend much time in an office, mostly we are just out on the lot getting dirty. Every day is pretty much the same routine, but we like the steady feel of it. It’s just how things are here.
