Shiv Ganga Public School

Shiv Ganga Public School is located out in Ghoghardiha in the Madhubani district. It’s a quiet area compared to the big cities. The school building is pretty simple and stands out against the more rural surroundings. We have kids who come from all the nearby villages, some walking and some on cycles. The ground gets quite dusty in the dry season and a bit muddy when it rains, but that’s just how it is here. Inside, the classrooms have the basic desks and chairs. We don’t have much in the way of high-tech stuff, just the teachers and their chalk. Every morning, the children gather for prayer and then it’s just the sound of lessons for the rest of the day. The staff mostly lives around here, so everyone knows everyone else’s family. It’s a tight community. We’ve been here in Ghoghardiha for a good while, and the school has seen a lot of kids grow up. Sometimes the cows wander too close to the gate, and we have to shoo them away. It’s a very local, down-to-earth kind of place. There aren't many frills. We just try to make sure the kids have a place to sit and learn their lessons every day. It’s a lot of work keeping a school running in a place like this, but we just take it one day at a time. The desks are a bit old but they still do the job for the children.
