Madhubani is a big place, so having a hospital here matters to the folks in the village who can't always travel far. We have some space for research too, though most of our time goes to seeing people who walk through the door with various ailments. The building is simple and doesn't have any of that corporate feel. It’s just us and the patients. The roads around here can be tricky during the rainy season, but we stay open regardless of the weather. We’ve got some staff who have been here since the beginning and know the families in the neighborhood. We keep our records on paper mostly, but we are trying to do more on the computer now because it's supposed to be faster. It takes time to change how things are done. We just want to make sure people have a place to go when they are sick. Sometimes we have to send people to bigger cities for things we can't do here. But for the daily stuff, we are right here in the mouza. It’s a quiet life mostly, just doing what needs to be done.
