Being in Ward No. 12 in Parwa Navtol is mostly quiet except when there is a festival at the Durga Sthan nearby. Our shop is just a basic place where we keep the items people in the village need for their homes. Madhepura can be a tough district when the monsoon comes because the roads get so muddy and it is hard to move anything. We have been here for a while now and everyone in the village knows who we are. I usually open up early in the morning before it gets too hot. My nephew helps me with the heavy lifting because my back is not what it used to be. We do not have a website or anything like that. People just walk in or send a message with someone passing by. Sometimes we sit outside and watch the goats wander past. It is not a fast life but it is okay. The Durga Sthan is a good landmark for people who have not been here before. We tell them to look for the temple and then they find us easily. Dealing with the daily stock is a bit of a headache sometimes but we manage. There are a lot of traders in this area but we just mind our own business and try to keep things simple. Every evening we lock up and head home to the family. It is the same routine every day and we are quite used to it now.
